Starmobile: bring it on!

Starmobile is a relatively new player in the country’s smartphone industry. Playing alongside the likes of Cherry Mobile, MyPhone and Torque, the group led by Star Telecom Alliance Resources (STAR) Inc. is in for stiff competition for the Filipinos’ continuously growing needs for faster, better and more reliable gizmos at an affordable price.

With this in mind, Starmobile has recently introduced a barrage of new smartphones and tablets to compete with the current offering of the other players in the Philippine market today. And, from the specs sheet of these alone, I can assure you that Starmobile is no pushover. Excited? Read on to find out more!

Starmobile FeatureSmart Mini (SRP: P1,890)

Feature phone with three bright color variants, the FeatureSmart Mini is very affordable at its P1,890 SRP. It has a 2.8inch touchscreen, TV receiver, FM radio, Bluetooth and WiFi. It also comes preloaded with Family Computer games such as Contra, Super Mario and Tetris. Talk about having a blast from the past!

Starmobile FeatureSmart T605i (SRP: P2,390)

Offering the same set of capabilities as the FeatureSmart Mini, the T605i touts a larger 3.5inch screen and a larger batter capacity. According to the manufacturer, battery life of the device can last up to 250hours (on standby, we assume).

Starmobile Icon (SRP: P9,890)

A huge improvement from the two previously mentioned devices, the Icon packs a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8MP primary camera, 5MP secondary camera and a 4.5inch touch screen display. It has Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at its core and features backside illumination (BSI) technology for its cameras. The gorgeous 4.5inch display panel of the Icon is protected by a tough glass panel layer dubbed as “Dragontrail”.

Starmobile Jump (SRP: P,4990)

Similar to the Icon, the Jump is also running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, although the latter comes with a 4inch touch screen display, 5MP primary camera, and a 1.0GHz dual-core processor.

Starmobile Knight (SRP: TBA)

The Knight trumps the Icon in terms of screen real estate as this one packs a 4.7inch touch screen display with a Gorilla Glass layer for added protection. According to the manufacturer, the Knight is the lightest and thinnest dual-core and dual-sim smartphone on the market today. It packs an 18MP BSI primary camera, an 8MP secondary camera, 1.2GHz quad-core processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Starmobile Engage 7 (SRP: P4,390)

Running on Android 4.0 ICS, the Engage 7 is a 7inch tablet with an 3MP primary camera and a VGA secondary camera. It has WiFi connectivity as well as USB support of up to 3.5G USB dongles. It has a 1GHz processor inside, as well as 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage and 32GB capacity microSD expansion slot.

Starmobile Engage 7TV (SRP: 5,290)

Contender to the Engage 7 is the Engage 7TV. As the name suggests, this one packs a built-in analog and digital TV tuner, 3000mAh battery, 1.2GHz processor and Android 4.0 ICS as its operating system.

Starmobile Engage 7 3G (SRP: 7,490)

Also a 7inch tablet, the Engage 7 3G sports a 1GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.0 ICS similar to the original Engage 7 and analog and digital TV tuner similar to the Engage 7TV. It also has support for WiFi and 3G HSDPA for connectivity purposes.

Starmobile Engage 8 (SRP: TBA)

For those looking for a slightly bigger alternative to 7inch tablets, the Engage 8 touts a larger 8inch touch screen panel with Asahi glass panel for scratch protection. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 32GB capacity microSD slot, HDMI port, 8MP primary camera, 2MP secondary camera and 5000mAh battery. Price is yet to be announced.

Starmobile Diamond V3 and V7(SRP: TBA)

Not to be outdone by the Samsung’s array of phablets, Starmobile has introduced the V3 and V7 with 5.3inch and 5.7inch displays respectively. The former also boasts of a 12MP BSI primary camera, 2MP secondary camera, Dragontrail glass panel for scratch protection, and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor also found in the Starmobile Icon. On the other hand, the V7 packs a whopping 18MP BSI primary camera and 8MP secondary camera. It also comes with scratch protection technology for the 257ppi display.
