Fueling the resurgence of Honda in the country is the all-new Honda CR-Z, the company’s sports coupe hybrid offering that is set to arrive in dealerships nationwide starting this August. The CR-Z combines a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain with traditional sports car elements such as a 2+2 seating arrangement and a standard 6-speed manual transmission. The CR-Z is regarded as the spiritual successor to the second generation Honda CR-X in both name and exterior design.
Under the hood of the CR-Z is a 1.5L i-VTEC SOHC inline 4-cylinder engine paired with Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid-electric system. Standard to the vehicle is a six-speed manual transmission although a continuously variable transmission (CVT) variant is also available. The overall system is able to deliver 122bhp of power and 128lb-ft of torque. Early test results show the CR-Z running from 0-60mph in approximately 8seconds. Fuel economy is at 25km per liter.
