Not to be outdone by the recent fanfare and marketing of rivals Apple and Samsung, HTC is readying an updated version of its Butterfly smartphone. Dubbed HTC Butterfly S, image leaks were already released by VR-Zone and Engadget China. The new phone, which sports BoomSound speakers similar to the HTC One, is expected to be roughly of the same size as its predecessor at 5inches with 1080p resolution.
BoomSound is HTC’s new system of using stereo speakers on its smartphones. It debuted on the HTC One and it leverages on wide-range drivers and amplification to reduce overall sound distortion at high and low frequencies especially at high volume. From previous tests, BoomSound is seen to deliver one of the best audio performances for a smartphone.
Although specifications for the new Butterfly S are still unknown, rumors point to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU and UltraPixel camera technology under the hood. Availability of the HTC Butterfly S is also still uncertain, although the official announcement of the device is expected to be mid-June.
