Cherry Mobile outs Fusion Air, dirt cheap at P2,999!

Are you on the market for a tablet, but is cash-strapped at the moment? What if I tell you that you can buy a Jelly Bean-packing 7inch Android tablet, from Cherry Mobile, for P2,999? Unbelievable? Believe it.

With the patriotic objective of bringing quality technology to the masses, Cherry Mobile recently introduced the Fusion Air, its latest budget tablet that packs a pretty impressive spec sheet considering its price tag. See the spec summary below:

1GHZ Single-core BoxChip A13 CPUMali-400 GPU Chipset
7inch, five-point multitouch screen, 800×480 resolution, 133ppi
512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, microSD slot of up to 32GB capacity
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box
VGA front-facing camera, no rear camera
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
2,200mAh Li-Ion battery
191×118.9×9.8mm dimensions

Clearly, the Fusion Air is not designed to be a computing powerhouse, but rather, a tablet that is suited for basic needs such as casual web surfing, watching YouTube videos, or reading ebooks. I doubt that playing the latest HD games will be possible with the device, although simple ones such as Candy Crush Saga should be just fine. Good thing the tablet packs Jelly Bean though, as this should help the hardware in improving the overall usability of the device.

If you ask me, however, if you have an extra P1,000, I believe the Fusion Bolt is a better steal than this one…

The Cherry Mobile Fusion Air should be available in the next few weeks, although knowing Cherry Mobile’s history, looking for available ones in stock should post one hell of a problem.

Cherry Mobile keeps the pressure on, announces the Thunder 2.0

Cherry Mobile adds another device to its ultra-affordable smartphone lineup with the announcement of the Thunder 2.0. Dubbed as the company’s most affordable quad-core phone to date, it packs a 5inch FWVA display with 854×480 resolution, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, 1.2GHz Mediatek MT6589 quad-core processor, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera and 512MB of RAM.

That last bit of spec is a bit of a downer though, as majority of Android phones today come with at least 1GB of RAM. Internal stable is at 4GB although a microSD expansion slot is available.

Tag price of the Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0 is at P6,299 only. Not bad for the specs, although we would need a hands on to fully understand its real-world performance.

Cherry Mobile Fusion Wave, coming soon!

Continuing their aggressiveness in the Philippine mobile device market, Cherry Mobile is once again marketing their upcoming tablet, the Fusion Wave. For now, we have limited information about the specifications of the new tablet, although what we know is that it will be sporting Android Jelly Bean out of the box, and that it features a rear and front camera and at least 1GB of RAM.

Further amping the hype on the Fusion Wave is the company’s hints that it will be packing a Samsung Exynos chip, although nothing specific has been released yet. However, sources claim that most probably, the Exynos chip that the Fusion Wave will  be having is the same one found in Samsung’s Galaxy S3 smartphone.
